.the things she says.

This is hardly going to be a full post but for the past couple of days Nyah has been cracking me up with the things she says... For example... When I asked her what she wanted for Christmas and I offered suggestions... Dollhouse, bike, car.... She responded with "lots of butter". Super score! We are getting off easy this christmas!

And today when I went through the drive thru at starbucks and ordered a tall vanilla latte... She said "no momma, grande!"... Haha! What are you saying kid? Momma obviously needs lots of coffee?

As her speech develops she really is quite funny and the best part is when you laugh at her she says "I funny" and then laughs at herself!

Man, she's awesome!

.happiest place on earth.

Next month.... we are headed to the happiest place on earth! DISNEYLAND!! I can't wait to see Nyah's face when she meets all her favorites.... Elsa, Ariel, Rapunzel, Cinderella.... She's gonna be so excited!

.first day.

A while ago I wrote a post about finding Nyah the perfect preschool. Shortly after that post, I started to have second thoughts. Was my girl ready? She wouldn't even be 3 yet. Would she be potty trained in time? Would it be too stressful or overwhelming for our extremely cautious little girl? I wasn't sure what to do about all these concerns and we had already paid our deposit.

About a month or so after we registered, I got a phone call from the owner. They were being forced to close their doors because the elementary school it was located in needed the space back. You can bet that I total took this as a sign that it wasn't meant to be.

A couple weeks ago, I got to chatting with my friend Kristen about the preschool that her daughter went to. It's called Sunshine Hills Parent Participation Preschool (SHPPP). I didn't really know what that meant but the more she told me about it the more I wanted to check it out. This is the description on their website...

"Parent Participation Preschool is a preschool in which the parents, children and teacher all contribute to, and actively participate in a creative learning environment of growth. The Preschool is non-profit, founded and maintained by parents whose concern is to provide a quality educational experience for their children during the vital preschool years."

The school encourages parents to participate and after speaking with teacher Cathy about Nyah and her cautious personality I had such a great feeling about the school. She assured me that Nyah wasn't her first and certainly won't be her last extremely shy little girl. She told me that together we would make a plan that everyone was comfortable with to help Nyah with the separation. This was music to my ears! We meet with her a week later to view the facility and it was such a great experience. I could tell that Nyah didn't feel as nervous as she usually does in that type of situation. I think what sealed the deal for me was when teacher Cathy said that before preschool starts she meets/visits each child in their own home!! Can you believe that!? I feel so lucky that we were able to get the last spot available! Talk about meant to be!!

See... doesn't she look comfortable! This was only her 2nd time meeting teacher Cathy! Can you believe that after this home visit Nyah received a postcard in the mail from teacher Cathy saying how much she enjoyed this visit and that she couldn't wait to have her in her class! It these little details that have made my heart so happy with our decision!

This whole experience has been such a whirlwind of emotion for me. I'm so sad time is flying by so fast but I'm so excited for her to take her first real steps out of our nest. Preschool is going to be such a great opportunity for her. I know my baby is growing up and that together we have to take these little steps towards independence but it doesn't change the fact that this momma's heart is having a hard time letting let go.

I'm so proud of my girl.

.mom.

It happened over night.... She went from calling me momma/mommy to just straight up mom. It broke my heart.

To me it makes her seem so grown up. How could my baby already be calling me mom! I tried to explain my broken heart to Jay and he just didn't get it.

He did however put it into perspective for me when he said that as long as she's always calling for him, he doesn't care what she calls him (and right now she seems to be calling him babe more often than daddy!).

He's right.... at the end of the day I want her to know that I'm always here for her... no matter what... and when she calls for me... I'll always answer.

Its been a few days and she is switching back and forth between mom, mommy and momma... My fav is momma :)

.love her.

There are so many things about my sweet girl that amaze me everyday. Two and a half has been such a fun and trying time. Most of our frustrations come from her not being able to fully communicate what she wants or is trying to say. And then some of our best times are when her sweet little personality comes out in the words she says. Here are some of my favorites that I never want to forget...

The way she says "wuv you mommy".

That she asks me at least 3 times a day in the most caring little voice... "You ok mommy?"

How she always says "sorry"... When she bumps you, or thinks she's upset you and often times when there is no need to even be sorry. She's just so sweet and so compasionate.

She renames all her favorite shows.... Frozen is snowman... Lion king is cat and the best is she calls the little mermaid... Horse! Haha!

She loves to play "what's your name".... Her top picks are usually... Carrot, Emmy, Stella or Baby Bear.

If you ask her who's crazy, she will laugh and say "momma".... Thanks Jay! Payback sucks.... We are working on something really special! Haha!

She cant say Eric from the little mermaid... She calls him Arc!

How she asks us to get her a "coffee" at the mcdonalds drive thru when we stop on daddy's way to work. It wont be long till she figures out her fruit smoothie is not the same as daddy's coffee!

Im sure there are many more things she says that Im forgetting. Im going to start making notes so I dont forget them between blog posts!

.3rd ones just as sweet.

Today is mother's day and I woke up sad that I had to leave Nyah and go to work. I wanted nothing more than to stay snuggled up in bed with her and act out  the Elsa and Anna sence from Frozen over and over again like we do most mornings.

Nyah ; " Elsa! Elsa! Wake up wake up wake up!"
Me; "Go away Anna"
Nyah; "the sky's awake... So Im awake....  Its time to play.... Do you wanna build a snowman?"

But instead I got up went to work and counted down the hours till I got to kiss her over and over again. I love you sweetheart! Thank you for the great afternoon!

"Momma, I always miss you sooo much when you go to work. So for mother's day I got you this so I can go to work with you. Love, Nyah"

.potty time.

Its that time.... Potty time! We are officially on day 3 and I'd say its going pretty well (Day 1 we had 3 pee pees on the potty and well on day 2 I was so pre occupied I forgot to keep count). Its already 3pm and we've only had 1 accident! Im so proud of her!!

Day 3 has been a definite improvement from Day 2. I'll let these screen shots from Day 2 explain it all.... (warning... foul language was used so if your easily offended... this is probably not the post for you!)

On a happier note here is my gorgeous girl taking her new potty for a spin for the first time!

And in case you wanted to see the upclose shots from Day 2, here you go....  Laugh away ;)

Its a good thing she's so darn cute! Haha!

.life in an instagram.

Life seems to be flying by and blogging seems to have fallen to the side. This is probably because I have a new position at work, Communications Manager, and Ive been spending the last few months helping to build a new website for the club. Ive spent so much time on this project, creating and writting that by the time I have some free time at the end of the day the last thing I wanna do is write and create some more. This is where Im so thankful for instagram! My instagram account is "our story" over the last few months. I may not make time to write but Ill always make time to photograph our lives. Enjoy!
